Anyone who so much as glanced at the autumn/winter 2019 shows is likely to have noticed the stand-out emergence of this season's biggest trend: a retro sobriety that paid tribute to the Seventies bourgeoisie, all pussy-bow blouses and horse-bit detailing. 

Unlike the exaggerated mutton leg sleeves and complicated totems, this season's bourgeois style lines are full of rationality and comfort, and the colors are low-key and retro, with fine materials and proper match.

Anyone with a penchant for pretty blouses, kitten heels and hair bows stands is in a good position this season – but, if you're going to unite the lot, look towards a pared-back palette to avoid appearing as though you've just left the typing pool.
